Progesterone is a small, fat-soluble molecule that is easily absorbed through the skin. Because it is fat soluble, it is stored in the fat layers under the skin. Since all postmenopausal women, and many younger women, are progesterone deficient, a larger amount is needed at first to bring the progesterone/estrogen levels into balance. Each woman is different and will require an amount suited to her needs. With this in mind, it is recommended that to start, a 2 oz. Jar be used up in three weeks. This rate should be continued until all symptoms of estrogen dominance are gone. After that, most women can usually tell how much they need to continue to fell well. Because estrogen dominance reduces the sensitivity of the estrogen receptors, and because progesterone tends to restore the sensitivity, a few women experience an increase in the symptoms of estrogen dominance. This will resolve as progesterone levels increase and the progesterone cream should not be stopped should this happen. Probably, usage should be increased. The best application sites are the "soft" skin areas of the body such as the insides of the upper arms, inside of thighs, face, neck, chest, breasts, and abdomen.
